Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
The Clarity Studio does not accept insurance. Clients are able to request a superbill to provide their insurance company for reimbursement, but there is no guarantee that the insurance company will reimburse you
How do payments work?
Debit, credit and HSA/FSA cards are accepted. Payments will be charged to the card on file immediately following the counseling session. If payment fails, the client will have an outstanding balance and will be unable to reschedule an appointment until the payment has been satisfied.
What can I expect in the first session?
The first session involves taking a look at your history as a whole, exploring your struggle points and learning about your goals for counseling.
How does the consultation work?
To save you time, I offer a streamlined consultation option. You’ll receive an introductory video where I walk through what therapy looks like with me, what to expect during your intake, explanation of fees and licensure, etc. I’ll also send a brief form for you to complete where you will highlights your needs from therapy. Once I review it, if we decide that we’re a good fit, we’ll look ahead at scheduling!
*For those interested in a live consultation, we can schedule a telehealth consultation by request. Please let me know in your contact inquiry. :)
What is the difference between an “intake” appointment and a regular “individual therapy” appointment?
An intake session is more in depth as this is our introductory meeting. The intake involves assessment, information gathering and treatment planning. At returning individual therapy appointments, we begin doing the work. These appointments are usually 50 minutes long instead of a full 60 minutes so that I have time to briefly prepare between clients.
What ages do you work with?
I work with adults 18 years old and older.
Do you offer virtual sessions?
Yes. The Clarity Studio is currently a virtual only practice.
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that life happens. To respect both your time and the time of other clients, I ask for at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours notice or missed without notice will be subject to a $90 late-cancellation fee in accordance with practice policy.
Do you offer other forms of counseling (i.e., family counseling, group counseling, etc.?)
The Clarity Studio currently only offers individual counseling. Individual counseling means one on one counseling without the involvement of another third party.
How often will we meet?
Session frequency depends on a few different factors, but especially: clinical necessity, your financial ability and your goals for therapy. There are other factors, but these tend to be the most common. We can strategize what plan works best based on your situation.
What issues do you help with?
I help clients with a multitude of issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, mood, anxiety, bipolar and related disorders, life transitions, career/academic counseling and more. Feel free to contact me if you have any concerns about your situation.
What if I’ve never been to therapy before?
I’ve been in your shoes before- confused about the process and even a bit unsure about whether therapy is the right thing for me. If you’re feeling apprehensive, I’d love for you to contact me and let me know what you’re feeling. Know that everyone in therapy has had to start somewhere, and it probably wasn’t an easy decision for everyone. If there are questions you have, I’m always happy to answer them.
What if I decide we’re not the right fit after the consultation?
I completely understand! Please know that that is okay- sometimes the fit isn’t there. If you’d like help finding another provider, I am here to help.
